Evaporation Boats: New Developments and Procedures for Improved Metallizing Performance

Based on operator training procedures generally accepted by the industry,
this paper is meant to reinforce the fundamentals for optimal evaporation
boat performance. Presentation is specific to resistance heated sources for
aluminum evaporation. It includes updates on patented ESK designs that
have become commercialized over the last several years. Temperature
distribution is compared among various evaporation boat designs. Results
have been increased commercialization of these new designs based on
improved overall machine performance and ease of operator use.
