Advanced Deposition of Al on Double Side for Ultra Thin Polymer Film in Vacuum R2R Tool for Future Battery/Capacitor Banks
Presented by Dr. Anye Chifen, ULVAC GmbH
Recent progress in the fabrication of controlled structures and advanced materials has improved battery performance in terms of specific capacity, rate capability, and cycling stability. This advancement is a combination of several production converting steps, whereby ULVAC’s vacuum deposition technology is used to address the layer architecture of the cathode current collector (CCC) and conventional deposition method of the anode current collector (ACC) to target outstanding energy capacity of 600wh/kg, 15 sec charging speed, at costs < 100 USD/kg.
Certainly, the drawbacks for the active material deposition on polymer film substrates have been subdued in the production using the 1650 mm or 2450mm double side vacuum deposition tool required at battery converting companies.
This unique deposition method contributes to the rising potential of thin film batteries in the energy landscape, leading beyond the expectations of battery safety, high energy density and environmental impact!
This presentation will share deep understanding for the processing of the ACC and CCC materials required for next generation battery.
