A DC to AC Upgrade Guide

Kevin Lifsey

Presented by David Stephan, PCT Ebeam and Integration

Older machines often have DC drives and motors. DC allowed variable line speeds and produced rated torque down to zero speed. Today AC vector drives and motors have similar performance and are the default hardware for new and upgraded machines. As DC drives become harder to find and the knowledge of how to maintain a DC motor is lost, upgrading from DC to AC is becoming necessary and the smart thing to do. This presentation will cover dos, don’ts, and lessons learned when upgrading to AC for engineers and project managers.
