This mundane question is, in some ways, more important than its more popular cousin, “What is the best roller-to-roller span?”[1] Yes, both affect the layout and cost of a machine. However, rules for wrap angles are more numerous, and much more consequential, if you get them wrong. Let us begin with a close-to-scale threading diagram (see Figure 1). This will show approximate roller diameters, roller spans and roller wrap angles. Best practices also would number all rollers and name all conventions.
