Maintenance on AC and DC Drives: Eliminate Down Time with Preventive Maintenance

Kevin Lifsey

Presented by Glenn Martin, Omron IDM Controls, Inc.

One of the costliest items a company has to deal with is unscheduled down time on
production lines. Preventative maintenance is the best method of avoiding loss of
production due to break down of manufacturing equipment.

Electronic equipment that is used to control the manufacturing equipment is normally the least maintenance intensive components on a process line. Therefore it is often overlooked as a scheduled maintenance item.

Most all process lines used in handling a web of material utilize control components such as PLC’s, industrial pc’s, HMI devices such as touch screens, and ac & dc adjustable speed drives. This presentation will focus on the maintenance of adjustable speed drives.
