Challenges of Paper Packaging Laminations for Curbside Recycling in the Paper Stream

There is a significant trend in the marketplace moving towards paper packaging solutions and the reduction of petroleum-based products. There are many challenges with moving to paper-based packaging materials such as cost, toughness, meeting high packaging line speeds, recyclability and product shelf-life demands. Moving from a traditional polymeric lamination into a paper structure, is not a simple feat especially if the structure is desired to be curbside recyclable. This presentation will review some of those challenges, potential solutions and needs from the industry to bring about success with paper packaging for those customers and markets that desire it.
